Join us for upcoming educational webinar presented by XML Senior Partner, Mark Samson, and XML President, Curtis Congdon, CFP®, CRPC®. Helping your children or grandchildren financially can be rewarding, but knowing when, how, and how much to give isn't always straightforward. We'll discuss important considerations to help you make thoughtful gifting decisions while keeping your own financial future in mind.
Giving While Protecting Your Own Financial Security: How to determine what you can afford to give, how much to keep for your own retirement and long-term needs, and when lifetime gifting makes sense versus leaving assets as an inheritance.
Choosing the Right Way to Give: Cash, appreciated investments, education expenses, trusts and other strategies, with a focus on tax considerations and the potential tradeoffs of gifting assets during your lifetime.
Helping Without Creating Dependence: How to structure financial support around a child’s needs and goals rather than simply giving them unrestricted money.
When Every Child Has a Different Financial Situation: How to think about fairness when one child is financially successful, another is struggling, or another has special circumstances.
Protecting Your Gifts and Planning for the Unexpected: What happens if a child gets divorced, faces creditors, has a financial setback or passes away? How trusts and thoughtful estate-planning provisions may help preserve assets for the intended beneficiaries.

Mark also spent a week as a counselor at Ronald McDonald Camp which is a place where kids with cancer, and their siblings, can enjoy just being kids. When not spending time with his family down the shore, Mark enjoys watching sports and playing an occasional game of golf and has recently become a big fan of pickleball. His son, Jake, is now an Associate at XML Financial Group.
