Despite COVID-19, Most Older Americans are Still on Track for Retirement

Last April, unemployment rose to 15.6% among American workers 65 or older and 12.5% among Americans aged 55–64, prompting fears that workers nearing retirement age would be forced to postpone their retirements or dip into their retirement savings ahead of schedule.

According to a new survey from Pew Research, however, despite the unemployment spike among older Americans last year, an overwhelming majority (84%) of older workers’ retirement plans are still on schedule.
