Renters Fighting Legal Battle Against Corporate Landlords

The housing market’s high mortgage rates and low supply have pushed many would-be homeowners to rent for the time being – and corporate landlords have been quick to take advantage of the situation. Tenants are taking their landlords to court, alleging outrageous rent hikes and price-fixing practices that violate the Sherman Antitrust Act. One site in particular, RealPage, is accused of facilitating a “housing cartel” that’s making it easy for landlords to squeeze everything they can out of their tenants.
