The S&P 500 has been in a bear market since June, but for months the Dow managed to avoid a similar slump. On September 26th, the Dow closed at 20.5% below its previous peak on January 4th, finally joining the S&P in a bear market.

The last time the Dow fell into a bear market was in 2020—but that bear market only lasted 15 days, from March 11th to March 26th. Can we expect a similarly speedy recovery, or will things be different this time around? And what could this mean for your portfolio?
